One has to become a student of one's life before one becomes a student of Vedanta
- Pujya Acharya

Guru Purnima Celebrations

As per our tradition at Arsha Vidya Vahini, we celebrated the holy Guru Purnima at Vyakhya – The School of Vedanta Studies. This event also marked the 2nd anniversary of VYAKHYA that was started in 2015. In commemoration of Guru Purnima, Pujya Acharya Sri Prem Siddharth ji commenced the series of discourses titled “Sri Guru Upasadanam” on the 6th of July 2017. Prayers were offered to Bhagavan Sri Veda Vyasacharya who adornined the altar, representing the Acharya Parampara. The celebrations culminated on the 9th of July – Sri Vyasa Purnima with Guru Puja and Mahaprasadam.

Sri Guru Upasadanam

The series of discourses by Pujya Acharya Swamiji are based on a mantra from Mundaka Upanishad. These talks present the Spiritual Journey with the preparations required, the different stages and their significance. The discourses reveal hitherto unheard definitions of Karma Yoga, Brahmana, Intelligent Living etc. thus clearing popular misconceptions. Speaking about the preparation, Pujya Acharya stated that one has to learn from life-experiences to attain emotional maturity. This leads the mind to receive the teaching and then alone the revelation becomes a realization. These talks are very important for seekers for correcting the course of the spiritual journey they have embarked upon.

Sri Vyasa Puja

On the evening of 9th of July, Vyasa Purnima, the devotees offered shodasa upachara puja to Sri Vyasacharya and the Guru Parampara adorning the well-decorated altar that was a feast for the eyes. The evening began with the chanting of Guru Stotram, followed by Guru Puja offered with Vedic chants and hymns. Namasankeerthan that ensued filled our hearts with devotion and gratitude towards the Acharya Parampara that upheld this timeless wisdom we have inherited.
